The Ethnic Racial Disparities (ERD) Committee is a group of community advisors, agency staff members, and technical support persons who investigate racial disparities at key decision points in Milwaukee County’s juvenile justice system and the Governor’s Juvenile Justice Commission (GJJC) Subcommittee and develop, recommend, monitor and track effective policies and practices to reduce them. The results of this group’s work assure that all decisions affecting youth who intersect with the juvenile justice system are made objectively, without racial bias, thus reducing the future penetration of youth of color into the juvenile justice system. The ERD Committee membership will reflect the diversity of youth being detained disproportionately.
